There are several noteworthy performances in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight , but the film once again demonstrates that there are few actors who know how to deliver Tarantino dialogue just right like Samuel L. Jackson does (for more proof of that, see that SLJ monologue from The Hateful Eigh So, all in all, just another year at the Oscars – complete with plenty of obvious choices, surprising snubs, and a handful of unexpected nominations. Whether or not the actual winners list will be quite so predictable – or, perhaps, mix things up a bit – that remains to be s Eventually he violates her, with her at first going along but then being physically hurt by him. Both Sorkin and Tarantino are revered screenwriters who have been honored by the HFPA in the past and in turn present strong competition, but neither Steve Jobs nor Hateful Eight are widely regarded as being as inventive from a storytelling perspective as some of their previous w Unlike the Golden Globes, Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life was recognized, as was Gary Oldman for his much-praised lead turn in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy . Notable absences include praised indie titles (and Screen Rant favorites) Shame and Martha Marcy May Marlene in the acting categories, while Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive only managed to land one nod, in the technical categor To be honest, the HFPA put up a good list. It’s a little quirky with Mozart in the Jungle , but that just makes it feel more balanced. There’s not a whole lot that could have been changed, but given the Globes’ budding reputation for recognizing smaller shows with a unique voice of their own, it would have been nice to see either Hulu’s Difficult People or Netflix’s BoJack Horseman , both of which succeed in skewering celebrity and Hollywood culture in different ways. Then again, maybe that’s why they’re not on here. And now, come to think of it, let’s nominate Difficult People stars Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner to be the hosts of the 74th Golden Globes in 2 The performances all around were fantastic, with Bishil effectively conveying the innocence and confusion of a 13 year old girl, and Macdissi fascinating and funny to watch as he vacillates between authoritarian tyrant and extremely dry comedian. Eckhart was great as well and IMHO took a heck of a risk playing the role of a pedoph The director interjects himself into his own documentary to express his suddenly conflicted feelings on the entire project due to the extreme turn of events. I think this really adds to the sense of neutrality of the film as you see that this was very unexpected.
